In his newest series of paintings, Ugo Untoro presents some stories that he ‘wrote’ on canvases. It has been known among art practitioners in his surrounding that Untoro also a poet aside of his practice as visual artist. By transforming canvas into a media to express his narratives, Untoro shows his continuous question and intervention of the fixed definition of painting. This particular project presents how the question of what is painting is being defined by action of writing stories, and to relate the connection of painting and literature.
